Would you like to meet the team?

I thought I would post the bio's for the team, so everyone can get to know them...And then come meet them at the July summerSLAM!

Lisa White
Lisa’s start in the slam world all begin 2am back in March of 2003, after realizing that Indiana had no certified slam venues and thought, “Hey, what a nice relaxing hobby, starting a slam.” Being a fan of performance poetry for years, Lisa started her venue, wadiSLAM! now Southern Indiana Slam, back in April of 2003 while a jr. in High School at the age of 17. She then became the youngest certified slammaster in PSI. She attended her first slammaster meeting this spring and is now active in the slam family. She has traveled through the state teaching spoken word at the High School level, and will continue to run the Southern Indiana Slam while attending Columbia College in Chicago this fall. She would love to thank the slam community for all the hard work and love that makes this organization feel like a family, all the poets that have made her too want to dedicate a large portion of her life to performance poetry, and her Mom and Dad for their constant love and support that has made her the passionate woman that she is today.

Courtney Wright
Courtney has been involved in slam poetry for 6 years, but he's been living the life of a poet his whole life. (He still lives with his parents, how embarrassing). He is a history major at Western Kentucky University and competes on the forensics team. He can be contacted at courtney.wright1@wku.edu

Ryan Howell
Thinking "Slam" was a pog contest Ryan mistakenly tried out for the Evansville slam team. We're sure glad he did because Ryan is mystical, threatening but gentle, and one heck of a party thrower. Ryan is a film major at Western Kentucky University and competes on the forensics team. Ryan's first film FBL is premiering in Plymouth IN sometime next fall.

Bonny McDonald
Bonny McDonald is considering going by just "Bon" McDonald. She often wonders, "Is that dorky?" and "Should it be one N or two?"

Grace Bruenderman
Grace has been doing slam poetry since she was 14 years old. Using a fake ID to sneak into Lexington Bars to compete in slams, Grace has built a name for herself with the poetry enthusiasts, not to mention the dirty old men. Grace is a Poetry major at Western Kentucky University and competes on the forensics team.

SO, there you have it. The 2004 Southern Indiana Slam team!
Don't forget, Tuesday July 29th @ 8:30pm at the Mug cafe (former Wadi cafe), our next slam! Hope to see you there!
-Lisa
