Long time, no post!

Hello Everyone!
Lisa, slammaster here, and sorry I haven't posted. Didn't realize just how busy my life can get=) Western went well. The team is good, we know all the rules and discussed some fundraising, and are all writing some wonderfull stuff. Also, last month we had another slam, the first at The Mug, former Wadi cafe, and the first with our new name, Southern Indiana Slam. Even with vacations, summer musical practice, and summer jobs, turnout was still great. It all started a bit late, but how else would it start on a nice lazy summer evening? We mixed things up, with our first (and maybe last?) audience slam. Teams of volunteers from the audience wrote improv short poems on subjects drawn. To say the least, it was very interesting =) Thanks to all the participants from all the teams for a fun night: Dusty, Emily aka Pete, Elliot, Sibo, John, Kara, Temme, Burkey, Taylor, and Jordan. You all were brave souls to sacarifice your writing to poetry. BUT IN NEW NEWS! THE NEXT SLAM! The next slam will be FRIDAY JULY 23RD @ THE MUG @ 8:30 PM!!! And guess what, it will be the debut of Southern Indiana Slam team that will be attending nationals in St. Louis come August. Also, stay posted for other possible teams and poets that will be featured that night too! So call all your friends, bring everyone you can, for an AMAZING night of poetry that will go down in the records book at The Mug. Lets fill the place up people! Hope to see you all there. And if you are interested in helping our team make it to nationals, please e-mail me at slamgirl1213@yahoo,com Thanks!

Would you like to meet the team?

I thought I would post the bio's for the team, so everyone can get to know them...And then come meet them at the July summerSLAM!

Lisa White
Lisa’s start in the slam world all begin 2am back in March of 2003, after realizing that Indiana had no certified slam venues and thought, “Hey, what a nice relaxing hobby, starting a slam.” Being a fan of performance poetry for years, Lisa started her venue, wadiSLAM! now Southern Indiana Slam, back in April of 2003 while a jr. in High School at the age of 17. She then became the youngest certified slammaster in PSI. She attended her first slammaster meeting this spring and is now active in the slam family. She has traveled through the state teaching spoken word at the High School level, and will continue to run the Southern Indiana Slam while attending Columbia College in Chicago this fall. She would love to thank the slam community for all the hard work and love that makes this organization feel like a family, all the poets that have made her too want to dedicate a large portion of her life to performance poetry, and her Mom and Dad for their constant love and support that has made her the passionate woman that she is today.

Courtney Wright
Courtney has been involved in slam poetry for 6 years, but he's been living the life of a poet his whole life. (He still lives with his parents, how embarrassing). He is a history major at Western Kentucky University and competes on the forensics team. He can be contacted at courtney.wright1@wku.edu

Ryan Howell
Thinking "Slam" was a pog contest Ryan mistakenly tried out for the Evansville slam team. We're sure glad he did because Ryan is mystical, threatening but gentle, and one heck of a party thrower. Ryan is a film major at Western Kentucky University and competes on the forensics team. Ryan's first film FBL is premiering in Plymouth IN sometime next fall.

Bonny McDonald
Bonny McDonald is considering going by just "Bon" McDonald. She often wonders, "Is that dorky?" and "Should it be one N or two?"

Grace Bruenderman
Grace has been doing slam poetry since she was 14 years old. Using a fake ID to sneak into Lexington Bars to compete in slams, Grace has built a name for herself with the poetry enthusiasts, not to mention the dirty old men. Grace is a Poetry major at Western Kentucky University and competes on the forensics team.

SO, there you have it. The 2004 Southern Indiana Slam team!
Don't forget, Tuesday July 29th @ 8:30pm at the Mug cafe (former Wadi cafe), our next slam! Hope to see you there!

Long time, No post...

Ok, so I have yet to get us a new site, I am html retarded, and I still need to get some links added when i get the password stuff from Phuc, so this summer, I promise to try to update more! In other news, our one year slam went well. Also, during the month of May, due to all the graduations, there will be no wadiSLAM! this month. The next one will be in June at The Mug, formally Wadi Cafe. That's right, Wadi has changed owners and has a new look. So lots of new stuff this summer and lots of fun including the summer barb-q slam, visiting poets, and National Poetry Slam in St. Louis! So keep tuned for all the fun to come.
